Imagine

“Imagine” is an intertextual site-specific art piece, drawing from two works: John Lennon’s song “Imagine,” which has inspired peace activists around the world for nearly four decades, and Rembrandt’s painting “The Return of the Prodigal Son,” which depicts the biblical story of a son who squandered his wealth and returned home to his father, seeking forgiveness. In the newly interpreted artwork, a son at the beginning of his life’s journey is depicted as a curious young boy.

Rembrandt’s painting served as a foundation for creating the theme of returning home: to return, one must first remember where they came from.

“All grown-ups were once children, but only few of them remember it.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
