The Yard Gallery has been a member of the “Safe Neighborhood” movement for several years. This is signaled by the yellow signs on the walls and the surveillance cameras installed. However, the concept of a safe neighborhood is not always understood in the same way by the neighbors and often becomes a topic of discussion.
Thus, the idea arose to create a humorous artwork featuring the characters of three neighbors sitting on a bench, knitting, cracking sunflower seeds, and watching their surroundings—reminiscent of a time when there were neither cameras nor barriers, and the neighbors knew everything about everyone, and even more.
The group portrait of the neighbors reminds us that 30 years ago, there was a bench in the courtyard where the neighbors often sat, knitted, observed their surroundings, and chatted about life.
